Raising Dion review – seven-year-old superhero is a cereal thriller
A boy with amazing powers, brilliant special effects and a sprinkling of Michael B Jordan make Netflix's new superhero show perfect fodder for families ... and the child inside us all
Raising Dion began as a short film born of comic writer Dennis Liu's desire for a more representative array of superheroes than has been gifted us by America's homogenous "golden age". It went viral and now the story of a black, widowed mother bringing up a seven-year-old boy with increasingly astonishing powers has been transmuted into a nine-part series on Netflix.
It has the charm and heart of Smallville, which filled the family-friendly slot for the last generation that Raising Dion is designed for. Newcomer Ja'Siah Young is another of those amazing child actors the Us seems to produce so effortlessly. And, as recently bereaved and unemployed mother Nicole, Alisha Wainwright manages to cover bewilderment, grief

5 Things You Did Not Know About Man of Steel
- 20 April 2013
- MovieWeb
The new Man of Steel trailer landed late Tuesday afternoon with a sonic boom that caused a seismic shift in fan anticipation. Though eagerly awaited, many have remained skeptical, and somewhat uneasy, about this so-called 'reboot' from director Zack Snyder. He did, after all, make what some call the most disappointing comic book adaptation of all time with 2009's Watchmen. And Warner Bros., the studio behind Man of Steel, royally whiffed it with their more recent DC Comics adaptation Green Lantern. Not to mention, there's still the mild stench of Superman Returns wafting through the air like a patchouli fart, causing fear that we could be in store for another snooze fest that fails at showing exactly what Kal-El is capable of on planet earth.

Former Smallville star Sam Jones III checked into federal prison last week to begin serving a nearly yearlong sentence for his admitted role in a massive drug ring after pleading guilty last year to conspiracy to sell more than 10,000 oxycodone pills. Blue Mountain State: Season One
Stars: Darin Brooks, Alan Ritchson, Ed Marinaro, Sam Jones III | Created by Eric Falconer, Chris Romano
Blue Mountain State sees three football-mad freshman – Alex (Brooks), a talented quarterback who is content to sit on the bench and party with his best friend Sammy (played by co-creator Chris Romano), who aspired to be nothing more that the school's football mascot; and Craig (Jones III), whose life and career has already been mapped out by his overbearing girlfriend – arrive at a football-crazy mid-western college where they must learn to juggle football, girls, studying and non-stop partying.
One of the more outrageous sitcoms to hit Us television screens in recent years, Blue Mountain State combines the two most popular teen genres – the sports movie and the gross-out comedy – to great effect, and follows in the footsteps of American Pie in successfully capturing both Ott sexual humour and the college experience.

There are two kinds of pictures convicts take of themselves: those prior to sentencing, where they're looking contrite and humbled, and those afterward, where they are usually drunk and grinning. Sam Jones III, known for his work on 'Smallville' and 'ER' has been sentenced to a year in prison for his role in a drug ring.
TMZ is reporting that Jones plead guilty to conspiracy to sell more than 10,000 pills of Oxycodone, a painkiller, and was sentenced to 366 days in prison, even though the prosecutor wanted him to serve 5 years.
It is reported that before sentencing Jones pleaded with the judge to show mercy explaining that he had lost everything including his dog, car and his acting role in 'Blue Mountain State' due to the drugs charges.
The judge showed leniency and said he was cutting the actor a break due to his "minor" role in the drug deal.
E! Online is reporting that in addition to the jail term, the judge has ordered that Jones to serve three years supervised probation once he's released from a jail.
